The Gadi Sagar is a reservoir built by Maharawal Gadi in the 14th century and which was the main source of water for the entire city. There are many small temples & shrines around its shores and, in winter especially, a wide variety of water birds can be seen here.
A beautiful gateway arches across the road, built by a royal courtesan named Tillon in the 19th century. Beyond ornate buildings with intricate archways, balconies line the lakeshore, their ghats leading down to the water’s edge, Jaisalmer’s fortress and bastions rising up as a spectacular backdrop.
