Nebaj, the largest of the three settlements is an attractive town with its plaza being the centre of the community. Here you will find the main municipal buildings, the large whitewashed Catholic church and a block away from the church, the small market.

The textiles woven here are extremely intricate, especially the women's huipiles, which are an accumulation of complex geometrical designs. The women’s head cloth is a most spectacular length of hand-loomed fabric, decorated with "pom-pom" tassles which are piled up above their heads. The Nebaj fiesta takes place the second week of August and consists of processions, dances, drinking, fireworks and a marimba-playing marathon.
