The settlement at Johnson’s Harbour has been in the same family since 1870 and is still a base for sheep farming in this remote part of the Falkland Islands.
The nearby Volunteer Point, accessible only by 4WD, is home to the largest King Penguin Colony in the islands and is the most northerly and most accessible colony in the world. There is also a large colony of Gentoo and Magellanic penguins located nearby and the beautiful white sandy beaches are teeming with wildlife.
