In over 100 years of habitation, this island, named after HMS Carcass, has had only three environmentally conscious owners who have worked hard to maintain the beauty of the island. With no foreign species of rats nor cats inhabiting the isle, small bird species still exist here and are surprisingly unintimidated by visitors.
A popular stopping point for cruises in the region, the local inhabitants are renowned for their warm welcome to visitors. Following walks on the island, wildlife watching or a stroll around the stunning established gardens surrounding the house – complete with swaying palm trees and grasses – make sure you call in for a cup of tea and one of their legendary cakes.
