A visit here to Aswan should encompass a visit to the Nubian Museum where the exhibits and displays chart the history or the Nubian people from prehistoric times to the modern day. With a history stretching back at least 6,500 years Nubian lands stretched south from Aswan and into northern Sudan and the culture was and remains extraordinarily rich. Along with artefacts found in the region - all of which are clearly labelled - there is a display charting the development of irrigation of the Nile-side lands, along with explanations of how UNESCO moved historic monuments prior to the creation of Lake Nasser. Don’t miss it.
