Located behind the Nubian Museum the Fatimid Cemetary is worth visiting to enjoy the peace and serenity of its domed, mud-brick tombs. Dating from as early as the 9th century (but with many modern additions) the tombs range in style from simple to elaborate, some for example with domes sitting on cubes with horn-like protrusions. There are also several mausoleums belonging to local saints.
