Located in central Sinai the Coloured Canyon is just one of several wadis that deserve exploration visiting either on a camel or 4WD safari. The layers of different coloured rock are what give the canyon its name and in parts it is reminiscent of the siq that leads to Petra in Jordan. The hike into its interior takes around an hour and rewards visitors with a sense of isolation and peace. The way through is narrow in parts and scrambling is necessary.
