Port Lockroy, situated on a small island, is often the furthest point south reached by the larger cruise ships. Set in a stunning bay, it boasts the world’s most southerly post office and a small museum illustrating how life used to be on an Antarctic base.
Proceeds of the sales from the gift shop go to the Antarctic Heritage Trust which works to preserve important historical monuments such as Port Lockroy, so travellers’ contributions are very important here.
