Today we arrive in the delightful village of Goçek a small village famous amongst yachtsmen for its harbour. Here we meet with our traditional gulet, the name given to traditional wooden-hulled Turkish boats that plied the coast in times gone by. We settle in and look forward to a week of adventure. Relax and enjoy your welcome cocktail.

As we set off we look forward to a few days relaxation and soon see the first of the ancient ruins that jut from the water all along the coast – including a sunken Lycian lighthouse over which we can snorkel. In the evening our gulet will anchor in a quiet bay where we can enjoy the stars whilst relaxing on deck.

Today we will cross Fethiye Bay and cast our anchor in front of Butterfly Valley. Here we swim and go ashore to visit this unique place, where between June and September, millions of butterflies come to breed. The captain and his crew this evening prepare a delicious, typically Turkish BBQ with, of course, an introduction to the powerful national liqueur, raki.

This morning we will sail from bay to bay and in the afternoon we head to Dalyan. Located in the heart of ancient Caria the setting is sublime, by a river overlooked by floodlit

Akkoprü is the small village from where we start this exciting day of adrenaline-fuelled fun. Located in the wilds of Turkey on the Dalaman River Akkoprü provides the put-in point for the very best white water rafting in western Turkey.

The river flows all year round, being at its most challenging in the spring time, and consists of rapids followed by pools, rapid, then pool and so on; the rapids being grades 3 and 4 – great for beginners and yet exciting enough for old hands. The pools allow plenty of time to relax, swim and enjoy the scenery.

At the end of the day we enjoy the film of today's actions while having a late lunch before travelling back to Dalyan.

No experience necessary today as we go diving to see something of the underwater delights of the Mediterranean. Our professional PADI instructors will brief you on the equipment and dos and don’ts before leading you on your first dive.

Those with appropriate qualification will enjoy accompanying a dive-master on a trip to some of the areas underwater highlights. Alternatively if diving isn’t your thing there’s always the opportunity to snorkel and just hang out on board.

A last day of adrenaline-fuelled adventure! From Dalyan an hour’s jeep ride takes us to a unique canyon that few know about. Canyoning involves wading through the stream of the river and its pools scrambling as we go and occasionally using ropes. Protection is afforded by lifejackets and helmets, with wetsuits at colder times of the year; all groups are accompanied by experienced guides.

This is the very best way to explore this rugged and beautiful terrain as we swim under waterfalls, through rock pools and climb over boulders. Next we use climbing gear to scale shear waterfalls and huge boulders which block our path and at the end of the day as we return to Dalyan we do so elated with a great sense of achievement.

This evening we enjoy a farewell BBQ on board our riverboat while we sail through the fascinating Dalyan reed beds.
