This exciting one week tour includes 4 days trekking in the dramatic Jebel Saghro region of Morocco, a winter trekking destination inhabited by hardy Berber people and nomadic tribes. The landscapes are spectacular in this true wilderness region: here mother nature has shaped and sculptured an array of ancient volcanic mountains to create seemingly never-ending plateaux, mesas and canyons. This is the last barrier of rock before the Sahara Desert.

The short Jebel Saghro Trek route detailed is a tried and tested, well-balanced circuit undertaken by countless numbers of trekkers over the years. It concentrates on the scenic central region of Jebel Saghro. This itinerary can easily be tailored to include additional nights in Marrakech whilst the route is flexible enough to be adapted to local conditions as required.

Short Trek in Jebel Saghro: Short trekking trip in Morocco

Well I have just returned from a fantastic week's trekking in the Jebel Saghro region of Morocco. Marrakech itself is a vibrant and interesting city, but being for someone like me who is into the outdoors it was great to get out into the ‘wilderness’. A good vehicle took us out to the start of our trek and Mohammed our guide (they all seemed to be called Mohammed) was excellent, introducing us to the Berber culture and explaining many things about the villages and markets. Accommodation was fine - nothing fancy, but was as you would expect on a trip like this. The pinnacle of the trip was just being away from everything and being immersed into a different place and culture – the trekking was good too!
