Saadani Safari Lodge is small and intimate, with just nine individual tented cottages set along the beach, cooled by soft ocean breezes and shaded by casherina trees. Cottages are twin or double with swathes of sailcloth adorn the ceilings, large romantic Zanzibar style nets and locally carved furniture. The ensuite bathrooms are creatively decorated with sand floors and shell mosaics. Hot water is solar powered and plentiful. Each cottage opens onto a wide veranda with couches looking out across the ocean. 

The activities available in the park are:
• River Safaris: boat trips across the ocean and into the mouth of the Wami River, to explore the lower reaches of the river and its wonderful wildlife
• Sea Safaris: boat trips from the lodge to an isolated sand island for snorkelling and picnicking. Dolphins are often seen around the island
• Game Driving: Unrestricted game viewing from open 4x4 vehicles amongst the varied grass and woodlands that make up the interior of the Park
• Walking: Walking safaris take guests through the forest
 

At Saadani Safari Lodge, full board and one excursion a day (additional excursions can be booked and paid for at the lodge). Saadani is Tanzania's newest national park. The park covers 1000sq. km and is a unique wilderness - the heady mix of beach, bush and river - found nowhere else on the eastern African coastline.

It is the range of different ecosystems that set Saadani apart from all other national parks and reserves in Tanzania, in the Wami River hippo and crocodile are prolific, literally a stone's throw from the open sea. Here also there is exceptional wildlife, particularly in the brackish waters of the river mouth, a favourite spot for pelicans and flamingos.

Game is plentiful in the bush, predators jousting with plains animals and elephants have been seen on the beach before. The coastline at Saadani stretches to the horizon in both directions, a line of pure white sandy beach. The rich nutrients in the seawater attract prawns and other seafood that make feasts for the dining table. Areas along the coastline provide nesting grounds for turtles and dolphins are often seen around the sand island off shore.

The tented camp, situated in the heart of the reserve, is environmentally friendly and each tent is equipped with private bathroom and a veranda facing the river. The camp offers game drives, boat trips, walking safaris and fly camping (the latter is not included in the quote and needs to be booked in advance).

There is a constant flow of animals coming down to drink at the river offering a permanent show to visitors of the camp. The water is usually full of hundreds of hippos as well as groups of crocodiles that laze in the sun on the sandbanks in the river.
 

At Rufiji River Camp, full board and excursions.

The largest game reserve in Africa covering an area the size of Switzerland, Selous is possibly Africa's last great wilderness. Despite its size, however, this UNESCO World Heritage site has only a handful of high-end safari camps, allowing it to maintain a low-impact exclusivity that is granted by few parks elsewhere. Opportunities for foot safaris and game walks, boat explorations and the classic 4WD safari in open vehicles add a further unique element to the Selous safari and ensure its reputation for pure bush adventure remains untarnished by volume.
 

Departure to Zanzibar after lunch, with the 15:25 flight. Transfer to Stone Town and check-in at the Zanzibar Coffee House on a bed and breakfast basis.

Back in 1885, Sir Tharia Topan, Wazir to Sultan Said Bargash built a wonderful house of fine architectural design in the bustling Stone Town of Zanzibar. The building served first as the noble residence of the important owner, later it housed a Bohora school, and, more recently, was the basis for project organizations. It is in this illustrious property near the main fish and fruit markets in Mkunazini that the Zanzibar Coffee Company Ltd. took up residence in 1989 and opened the new Zanzibar Coffee House in 2005.

The house hosts an authentic Café in the basement, reflecting the classical Zanzibar architecture with arches, boritis ceilings and thick walls. Furnished with solid furniture and elegant lamps the atmosphere is truly unique and inviting. The Café serves a variety of coffee creations, which are all based on our own coffee production on Zanzibar and the highlands of Tanzania. Fresh croissants, cakes, muffins, and cookies from our in-house mini-bakery makes the stop-over in the Zanzibar Coffee House a true pleasure. Breakfast is also available in the morning.

Above the Café and the roasting room, the house offers now 10 individually furnished and air-conditioned Hotel rooms to guests who seek the unique experience of staying in an authentic coffee house. The small size of the Hotel offers great privacy to the guests who have also exclusive access to the Teahouse on top of the building.

Transfer to the East Coast and check-in at Hakuna Majiwe on a HB basis.

'Hakuna Majiwe', the local name for the hotel ground, means 'place without stones'. As individual as its name, this beach hotel has a special atmosphere, being different to other hotels. Set on a fabulous 6 kilometres white-sand palm fringed and desert beach, cooled by the ocean breeze, is the perfect gateway to an exotic African paradise.

The hotel consists of 20 rooms in beach bungalows, facing the ocean. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms with hot water, wardrobe, double or twin beds with mosquito nets, ceiling fans and a spacious veranda. The rooms have all been individually designed to offer style, comfort and personality. The restaurant offers local and international cuisine, with an emphasis on Italian pasta and specialties. Enjoy a wide range of beers, south african wines and liquors at the bar.

A big swimming pool (27x11 mt.) with fresh water, a massage corner, a pile-dwelling on the sea, tailor atelier and boutique are other comforts available at the Lodge.
