1	Bangkok – arrive and the adventure starts!	Bangkok
	You are met on arrival at Bangkok Airport by an Intrepid Thailand tour leader and transferred to your centrally located hotel. Please advise us of your flight details at least 14 days prior to departure if you wish to have this transfer provided. The rest of the day is at leisure and you're free to explore at your own pace.

2	To Kanchanaburi and the Thai-Burma Railway.	Kanchanaburi
	You'll be picked up early from your hotel (approx 07.00) and taken to Kanchanaburi, 2 hours away. Here you'll visit the Allied War Cemetery, the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, War Museum and the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai. Then take a boat ride upstream to River Kwai village along the historic and scenic Kwai Noi River. After lunch you'll have time to explore the Hell Fire Pass Memorial, the largest of a series of passes hacked through the mountains by Allied POWs and named for its flaming torch-lit appearance at night. After dinner see a different side of local history with a display of Mon dancing.

3	Boats, caves and elephants.	Kanchanaburi
	Start the morning with a long-tailed boat ride upstream along the Kwai Noi River to the Kaeng Lava Cave. Climb into the cave and explore its weird and wonderful stone formations. Continue on to an elephant camp by bamboo rafting along a rushing tributary of the river. Take an exciting elephant back ride through a jungle before a picnic lunch. Return to your hotel in the afternoon and enjoy free time to explore the area further or just relax by the river.

4	Free morning, train ride on the Death Railway and return to Bangkok.	Bangkok
	Your morning is at leisure. After lunch take a train ride along the part of the Death Railway. Travelling from Nam Tok Station, Thailand's last existing train station of the Thailand – Burma Railway, you'll pass along breathtaking scenes of the Kwai Noi Gorge and a massive wooden viaduct, built along the mountain by the POWs. Arriving at Kanchanaburi Station, it's time to drive to back to Bangkok.

What To Bring

The following checklist is to be used as a guide only and is not intended to be a complete packing list. Any other items that you wish to pack are at your own discretion however you should attempt to comply with the suggested luggage weight limit.

Travel documents: passport, visa, travel insurance, air tickets, voucher, Health requirements arranged, money: travellers’ cheques/cash/credit card, money pouch, First Aid kit, daypac to carry your personal needs during the day, alarm clock and torch/flashlight, Insect repellent, refillable water bottle, hat, sun cream, sun glasses, swimming costume, beach towel, Thai phrase book, ear plugs can be useful if you are a light sleeper, comfortable walking shoes/adventure sandals with good grip, sweater or jacket for the evenings when it gets cooler, a poncho-style raincoat or umbrella in the wet season (May-Oct), Sarong for bathing (can be purchased in Thailand.

Group Size

This Private Journey can operate with as few as 1 participant, however is aimed at couples, families and small groups of friends travelling together with a maximum of 12 passengers in the group.

Other Information

When packing be aware that dress standards are conservative throughout Asia. Loose, lightweight, long clothing is both respectful and cool in the predominantly hot Asian climate. Shorts should be knee-length. Singlets and tank tops are not suitable.
