You start departing Dahab at approximately 08:00 by minivan to drive 70km to the entrance of Wadi Ghazella. Here you’ll be met by members of the Bedouin tribe of the area, and equipment loaded onto camels. Next trek along this large open valley for approximately 45mins to reach the rocky path called Humidatt then after 10 minutes arrive at the entrance of the Narrow Canyon, also called the Closed Canyon. This is a very secret and totally pristine place, an impressive example of eroded sandstone with its floor awash with white powdered sand. You’ll trek by foot through its narrow winding paths and incredible rock formations, then walk back to relax for an hour, enjoying the open view of the wadi and enjoy lunch, prepared by your guide.

Next it’s time to ride your camel to meet your hosts for the night, members of the tribe living in the oasis of Ein Hudra. Hudra is surrounded by a range of sandstone mountains with a soft sand desert floor shaded by date palms. The local Bedouin of the area have cultivated the land with the supply from a natural water source and are growing a wide range of plants, fruits and herbs and grazing goats, as they have been for hundreds of years. After a freshly prepared dinner, cooked on the open fire, you’ll spend the night in a traditional tent, enjoying the tranquillity and peace of this genuine oasis in the desert. The oasis gives an insight into the desert-dwelling Bedouin way of life and their daily rituals.

After breakfast your trek starts again this time in the direction of Mt Matamir. En route you’ll have the opportunity to visit two of the famous Rocks of Inscriptions. Mt Matamir is approximately 936m above sea-level and is also known as the mountain of pillars. You can choose to climb to the summit where one can observe the amazing landscape of the whole surrounding desert, and Mt. Moses in the distance. Descending you’ll have time to relax while your lunch is prepared by your guide.

Later the trek starts again in direction of the Nawamis plateau, 30 minutes away. The plateau is home to a number of ancient tombs which date back some 5500 years to the Bronze Age. These are the oldest standing buildings that still have their own roofs intact. The tombs all face west to the setting sun, symbolizing the end of the sun with the end of life. After a relaxing time, you’ll head towards the next village, and after a cup of shay, the local tea, will trek to reach the asphalt road where the minivan will transfer you back to Dahab to arrive by 17:00.
