Nosy Be
15 km away from the northwestern coast of Madagascar lies the 321 km² large island Nosy Be. Here you can still discover a little paradise, which has been spared of mass-tourism. Climb on Mount Lokone (450m) or Mount Passot (350m) and you will be able to see Nosy Be in all its beauty: its jagged coasts, the numerous bays and lovely coves, the deserted beaches and the crystal clear water. Experience the amazing underwater world of Nosy Be which offers excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities or do a day trip to the nearby islands, for example Nosy Komba where you can watch the 5,000 black lemurs that roam this island and eat delicious fruits from wild growing lemon, orange, bananas, papayas and mango trees.

Nosy-Be is the most popular island of Madagascar. On its north there is the Archipelago of the Mitsio and to its south the Archipelago of the Radama. In its immediate surroundings: Nosy Sakatia, Nosy Tanikely, Nosy Iranja and Nosy Fahinihi, offer excellent diving.
Also known as “The perfume” Island, Nosy Be offers a large variety of local marine life: soft and hard corals, turtles, mantas, whale sharks, barracuda, etc.

Sakatia Island
Sakatia Island offers its visitors the unspoiled tropical fauna and flora typical of this area. At only 6.5 km long and 2 km wide at its widest point, it has a population of 300 habitants, with no roads and only foot paths, where one can wander at leisure and explore its beauty and deserted beaches.
The island is fringed by a spectacular coral reef to be enjoyed by snorkeler or scuba diver alike.

Scuba Diving:
Sakatia Lodge has a dive centre and organizes other activities such as Quad Biking, Deep Sea Fishing, Micro Light, Canoeing, Trekking and exploring other Islands within its vicinity.
The Dive Centre is NAUI approved, affiliated to DAN SA and offers Scuba diving and NAUI diving courses, from “discover snorkeling to Instructor as well as specialty courses, NITROX, Night Diving, Environmental Diving, Search and Recovery, ASHI first aid and CPR.
Typically, the best season for diving is from May to January, with extra preference for September to November as whale-sharks are more likely to be encountered during that time period.

	On arrival to Nosy Be airport, you will be met & transferred by car (45 minutes) and boat (10 minutes) to the island of Sakatia. Enjoy your first tropical dinner on the island and spend your evening listening to the calls of the exotic bush.

2	Diving and time at your leisure	Sakatia Island
	10 dives have been included in your package, allowing for 2 dives per day. Your non-diving hours will be spent at your leisure, enjoying the island, taking walks, snorkelling, and taking additional excursions from the lodge if you wish.

	Your last day in Nosy Be, you will be transferred from Sakatia Lodge to Nosy Be airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Here you will be met at the airport & transferred to IC Hotel (or similar), close to the airport, where you will stay the night on a bed and breakfast basis.

Essential Info

Accommodation

Sakatia Lodge - Situated at the foot of the Sacred Mountain and Nature Reserve is Sakatia Lodge. The Nature Bungalows are basic but comfortable with single or double beds, bathroom with shower (cold water only) and toilet.
The Ocean view bungalows offer single or double beds, veranda, sea view, bathroom with hot and cold water showers and separate toilet. (You can upgrade the package should you require Ocean bungalows).
The lodge has a stunning lounge / bar area & a separate restaurant overlooking the ocean and fringed by the sacred forest of Sakatia. 

Meals

Half board at Sakatia Lodge, Bed & Breakfast in Tana.

What To Bring

Maximum baggage allowance on the plane will be 20 kg. Please bring a backpack or soft barrel bag, not a suitcase. Don't bring too much clothing, as there are washing opportunities along the way. Please adhere to the allowance specified as space for luggage is limited.

Shorts, track suit, walking shoes, light trousers/jeans, swimming costume, sandals, T-shirts, sun hat, windbreaker, warm clothes, long-sleeved shirts, camera, torch & spare batteries, UV & Mosquito protection.

Other Information

• Please note that internal flights should be booked in conjunction with international flights and the rates are subject to class, availability and change.
• Pre and post tour accommodation and transfers can be arranged on request.
• Clients are advised to bring enough money to cover their lunches and dinners, the purchase of curios and additional entertainment. Madagascar’s currency is Ariary. Euros are the most practical and convenient currency to exchange into the local currency, Ariary at the Airport. There are automatic teller machines (ATM’s) available in the bigger towns like Tana, Fianarantsoa and Tulear. International credit cards and travelers cheques are very seldomly accepted, however Visa is the better option to have at places that do.

Sakatia Lodge has a comprehensive selection of well maintained diving equipment. Should you wish to bring your own equipment, please note the weight allowance of 20kg for flights to Nosy Be.

Please note: Scuba diving equipment is not always available in the full range of sizes and makes, so bringing your own dive gear can be a sensible precaution. There are no Hyperbaric (decompression) chambers in Madagascar, so it’s best to be extra-careful when tackling challenging spots.

Nice post. Nosy Be Island is a very beautiful island.Nosy Be Island is one of the islands of Madagascar.Besides there are Cafes, eating joints, bars as well souvenir shops.Nosy Be is the Dzamndzar town where you can see the former cane sugar that was used to make rum. Enjoy Hell Ville is the Mount Passot, pretty crater lakes. You can see crocodiles, surround the mountain, rare species of birds like the Paradise Fly Catcher.
