Four legs!!! The horses we use in Morocco are just wonderful. Barb-Arab by breed they are gorgeous looking animals, lithe and strong and have a decent height (usually between 15 and 16 hands) and in various shiny colours. In fact the horses we use are so lovely to look at they are all used in the film industry in Ouazazate and it is not inconceivable that your behind will be sitting in just the same place as Brad’s or Russell’s!
Meals
8 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 8 dinners.
Staff
UK based Tour Leader; the trip will be backed-up by friendly and helpful guides, cooks and grooms.
Age Restriction
We believe that having an adventurous spirit and a love of travel is far more important then physical age, so we don’t impose age restrictions. In terms of fitness levels you certainly don’t need to be able to run the marathon but to get the most out of the experience you need a certain amount of get-up-and-go.
Optional Activities
None
What To Bring
Aside from a sense of adventure and an open mind?!?… Upon booking we will send you a fact file containing information about the region plus an equipment list, recommended clothing list and any items that might be hard to come by in your destination.
Group Size
10
Other Information
Anyone in a decent state of health with an intermediate or above riding ability. The thing is with horse trekking is that you have to feel confident on a horse – that may sound obvious but it is more important than actually being a good rider. There is a reasonable amount of cantering and you should be happy with this.
Operator Remarks
Responsible Travel: we are very aware of the economic, ecological and ethical impact tourism can have on ancient cultures and fragile environments. We realise that taking tourists through such a region can have a negative impact on the lives of those who live there as well as the environment and on all our tours we therefore go to great lengths to minimalism the negative and accentuate the positive… after all, there are also many good things that the tourist can bring.
Dividing this issue into two categories, the ethical and the ecological, we are actively involved in trying to help local communities while doing as little damage to the world as we can.
As such we are members of Climate Care, and off-set every client’s international flight (if booked with us) with a payment to help promote sustainable energy, and are affiliated to a number of carefully chosen NGOs and community development projects, that we support with financial aid.
Cultural Sensitivity: In the churches and cathedrals women should cover their heads with a scarf or hat, while men should take their hats off!
We make a point of visiting the indigenous populations of each country, in order to give a true reflection of the place; please treat the local people and their customs with respect.
