We typically ask everyone to meet on this evening. The guide can meet everyone and make introductions. No evening meal is included however we generally dine together in a relaxed downtown restaurant.

We buy our picnic supplies and drive around 35 minutes to our hike start point. We hike from the Roman aqueduct at Akbel through tiny hamlets, fields carpeted with flowers and through olive groves to the beach at Patara. Here we have a chance to visit the ruins and the 12mile-long beach before meeting up with our vehicle and returning to Kaş. Walking time 4½ hours.

After a short drive we begin today’s gentle hike. Walking on easy tracks between the dry-stone walls of sleepy villages and across terraces cultivated for centuries we reach our lunch spot; a fantastic coastal view with the remnants of an ancient city thrown in for good measure. On the return we have a good chance to see several species of the Anatolian orchid in flower. Return to Kaş by vehicle. Walking time 5hours.

Today we take a different direction out of Kaş and head north to explore the hinterland. At a 5,000ft (1500m) mountain pass we get out of the vehicle to begin our hike and reach our destination village of Sütleğen some 4½ hours later. En route we enjoy stunning views of our local 10,000ft mountain Akdağ (White Mountain). In the village we can enjoy meeting the locals and having a glass of sage tea!

Kaş is one of Turkey’s most attractive small towns and considered the heart of Lycia. It is a perfect spot to spend a relaxing day people-watching on the waterfront or swimming in the crystal clear sea. Optional day trips by boat are available such as a trip to the nearby Greek island of Kaştellorizo/Meis or to Kekova island.

The ideal finish to a splendid week of walking in the region. We drive 40minutes to the tiny hamlet of Kilincli and begin our hike to the Kekova Sound. A morning of mainly downhill on footpaths we come across the ruined coastal city at Aperlae; an idyllic spot. At the end of the isthmus we meet up with our small boat and take a relaxed tour of the sunken city at Kekova Island. In Ucagiz we re-join our vehicle and return to Kaş.
