This afternoon meet with your guide then load equipment into 4WD vehicles to start the first leg of your desert adventure, and your first night’s camp at Wadi Baba located approximately 25km inland and it is at this point that you enter what is described in biblical references as the “The vast and terrible wilderness”. Wadi Baba with its ancient reference of Elim is one of the valleys that is mentioned within the Torah and that was crossed by Moses and his people - the ancient land of Sin.

After breakfast, equipment is packed up and you start your journey of discovery passing through Wadi Mattallah with its amazing panoramic view of the mountain of Serabit el Khadem. Reaching this point you’ll have time to explore the area loaded with historical reference to the Pharon of ancient Egypt with its turquoise mines and temple of Isis Hathor. A small climb up Mt Serabit leads to the temple where the inscriptions of Hathor can be seen. This evening you’ll enjoy dinner whilst camping at the foot of the mountain.

This morning all equipment is loaded onto camels and you start your trek heading east to Wadi Humeir, a large valley rich with minerals and red in colour. The trek to your lunch stop will take approximately 3hrs following the route to our ultimate camp at Fuga, the Forest of Pillars - an area of volcanic activity that has left the rock sticking out of the land like stalagmites and terracotta sand and black rocks shoot up like hollow poles. Today you trek for a total of 6hrs at approximately 1000m above sea level.

Maintaining the desert ritual of rising with the sun you’ll enjoy breakfast and spend some of the morning exploring the area of Fuga before continuing your trek south. Crossing the pass at Ghuraba and into the valley the landscape changes, at this point the cliffs and rugged volcanic rock merge with a limestone valley. Reaching the top of Wadi Khudra the panoramic view over the valley floor is laid out below, a magnificent spot to rest. This evening camp at Shurifit el Khudra, with its amazing view point. Today’s trek is of 6hrs.

After breakfast you move on down the Wadi Khudra descending south. With its sandstone mountains and soft sand desert floor it’s an amazing place to walk. Lunch will be taken within the valley and you’ll camp at valley’s end. Today’s trek is approximately 5hrs.

Taking a southern route we trek onto the Plateau of Nawamis where the famous tombs have stood since the Bronze Age. After a last lunch we make our way back to Dahab.
