Arrival at Catania Airport and transfer to your hotel in the city centre, close to the Cathedral. Catania showcases many Baroque churches and buildings, all placed in the very heart of the city centre.

Transfer from Catania to Milazzo harbour. Hydrofoil from Milazzo to Vulcano, one of the seven Aeolian Islands, famous for its black beaches and thermal springs. Take an excursion to Vulcano’s crater to see the “fumaroles”. There is time for going to the beach and to the thermal springs before in the late afternoon taking a hydrofoil to Lipari (10 min.).

Check-in at the family run hotel near the small harbour of “Marina Corta”. Overnight stay at Lipari.

This morning we take the hydrofoil to Salina, the green island. From the harbour of Rinella we take a public bus to Val di Chiesa and from there excursion to Mt Fossa delle Felci (960m), the highest peak of the Aeolians, walking through birch and pine woods. In the afternoon, take a hydrofoil back to Lipari. Overnight stay at the same hotel in Lipari.

This morning we have free time for visiting the centre of Lipari with its interesting Archaeological Museum. In the afternoon transfer by boat to Stromboli. Check in at the hotel. At sunset we make some easy walking on the western side of the island to discover the Sciara del Fuoco and to approach the famous Stromboli eruptions.

In the morning we have some free time to visit the lovely village of San Vincenzo, or relax in Stromboli perhaps on its unique black beaches. There is the chance to take a boat tour of the island to visit the enchanting small village of Ginostra.

In the afternoon leaving for the excursion to the active volcano* with a certified volcanologist guide.

*The volcano is 924 mt high and when it is not erupting people are allowed to climb up the top, escorted by a certified volcano guide. At the moment access to the top is allowed, however this can change at any time. The volcanologist guides reserve the right to decide whether or not to climb the volcano according to safety measures that are constantly monitored, the weather and also the physical condition of the trekkers.

In late morning we take a hydrofoil from Stromboli to Milazzo, then a private transfer from Milazzo harbour to the northern side of Mt Etna, 1460m. On Etna, before dinner we make a short walk over the 2002 lava flow. Dinner with local dishes and overnight stay at the hotel.

(2 hours hiking, +200 -200 mt.)

We make a great walk on the northern area of the volcano, to experience the last Etna phenomena related to the 2002/2003 eruption with the craters’ line called “The Bottoniera”. Our walk will continue through woods, lava tunnel and different lava flows. Return by foot to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

(6 hours hiking / + 200 m – 400 m)

Option: According to the weather and volcanic conditions there may be the chance to climb by 4WD up to a point at 2900m, continuing on foot to 3350m, escorted by a volcano or alpine guide. Return on foot to the chalet (6 hours hiking, + 450 – 1550 mt). Supplement to be paid on the day: €80 (4-5 pax), €65 (6-8 pax), €55 (9-12 pax) and €45 (13-15 pax). All prices per person.
