Transferring in from the airport we check in to our hotel and look forward to our forthcoming trip.

Phnom Penh is a lovely, laid-back city still with a crumbling grace and beauty not often found in other Asian capitals. Wide boulevards, wats, markets and the city’s riverside frontage combine to give it much appeal.

Today we’ll discover the city on a city sightseeing tour taking in the National Museum, Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. This afternoon we visit the sad Tuol Sleng Prison and Wat Phnom, site of the original city. We also have time to visit the Russian Market.

A short flight brings us to the rapidly expanding town of Siem Reap, home of course to Angkor Wat.

Upon arrival, we are met and transferred to our hotel and look forward to our explorations this afternoon to the oldest Rolous group of temples - Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei temples.

We recommend an early rise this morning for the wonderful sunrise at Angkor Wat.

Today we will explore Angkor Thom, the site of the ancient capital of the Khmer period and within which is the great South Gate, the famous Bayon with its serenely smiling faces, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of Leper King – all famous attractions of the site. Then we set off for Ta Prohm, considered by many to be the most evocative temple, smothered as it is by tree roots.

This afternoon we spend exploring the main Angkor Wat Temple – highlight of our visit.

This morning we head out on Tonle Sap Lake for a boat trip to see the unchanging lives of the local people. The largest lake in Southeast Asia and a hugely important ecological area Tonle Sap – the Great lake – is designated a UNESCO biosphere and provides much interest to travellers, providing the visitor with opportunities to see village life close up.

Later you have a chance to do some shopping in the Old Market then we’ll enjoy a drive of about 45 minutes through lovely countryside to visit Bantaey Srei and Bantaey Kdei temples. We’ll enjoy a stunning sunset over Pre Rup temple – the perfect end to the trip.
