A great chance for families to discover a beautiful area of southern Croatia, enjoying activities and interesting sightseeing.
The historic city of Dubrovnik and its coast offers a wealth of attractions, with a mild Mediterranean climate, crystal-clear blue sea, small, gem-like islands, many cultural sights and even medieval towns!
This 8-day centre-based trip combines activities such as sea-kayaking, cycling and walking with cultural sightseeing and it is designed to interest both younger children and Mums and Dads. Unpack in lovely Cavtat from where we take a variety of daily trips to Dubrovnik, Lokrum in the Elafiti Islands, explore the rural Croatian countryside on foot and by bike – we even visit the medieval town Ston on the Peljesac Peninsula.
This region of Croatia is perfect for families who are looking for an active and yet relaxing holiday.
Arrive at Dubrovnik Airport and transfer to your accommodation in Cavtat. You’ll enjoy a welcome dinner and a run through the trip itinerary together.
Our accommodation is a comfortable 3* pension – perfect for a family holiday.
After breakfast we transfer to Dubrovnik’s “Old Port” where we will meet our guide and start an orientation walk of the city, taking in some of the most important city sights. After lunch we are introduced to our sea-kayaks and are fitted with safety gear. We are then shown how to handle these easy to paddle craft and then we are off, paddling besides the city walls and on to the island of Lokrum.
We enjoy a short visit to the botanical gardens and some swimming before we head back to Cavtat, arriving late afternoon.
After breakfast we start a walking tour heading from Cavtat to the village of Cilipi, 7 km away (can be shortened for small children).
On arrival in the village we head to a country house and see a demonstration of ancient crafts, ethno collection of ancient tools and meet the farm animals: horses, chickens, ducks and sheep!
After lunch there is a time to relax and soak up the ambience before a short walk through vineyards and fields and a visit to the village museum and/or old mill before we head back to Cavtat by minibus at around 15:00hrs. A great day out with much for all family members.
Today we board the boat in Cavtat, cruising to Dubrovnik Old Town, then continue to the Elafiti Islands.
This is a lovely relaxed day with a fish lunch on the boat included, and short visits to villages on Sipan and Lopud.
In the late afternoon we depart back to Cavtat.
Cavtat is the perfect base in which to relax, or you could head into Dubrovnik, now you have a feel for the city. Either way there’s as much or as little to do as you want today.
After breakfast we transfer to Zvekovica where our cycling tour starts. We head through Konavle’s villages as we continue to the old Franciscan monastery in the village of Pridvorje where we pause for refreshment. Enjoy lunch in local tavern then cycle back to Cavtat, around Cavtat Peninsula, arriving back between 16:00hrs and 17:00hrs.
Ston is a medieval town on the Peljesac Peninsula, a fortified town famous for its oysters. The town lies 65 km from Dubrovnik and our drive takes us along the coast road until we arrive in the town.
After time spent in Ston we continue to village of Kuna where we visit a farm with donkeys. After sightseeing we have lunch in an old tavern and then head back to Dubrovnik in the late afternoon – a great way to end our Croatian adventure.
Departure day. Our tour ends with a transfer to Dubrovnik airport.
