A great walking holiday which explores the countryside and beauty of the Dubrovnik area! First we head into the Konavle countryside for some walking in the hills and to 1234m-high Mount Snježnica (1234 m). A walking tour of the old city of Dubrovnik follows and then it's time to stretch our legs again, this time on Sipan, one of the beautiful Elafiti Islands.
Next we head to UNESCO-protected Vjetrenica Cave near the village of Zavala in neighbouring Herzegovina before a final free day to relax before travelling home. This is the perfect trip for someone looking for a holiday to Croatia with a difference with lots of walking and a real chance to see the countryside of both the better-known and lesser-known places of interest.
Note that this tour can also be taken as a private trip - contact us for prices.
After your arrival in Dubrovnik airport you will be transferred to your accommodation in the town of Cavtat. The evening is free, we suggest easy walking in Cavtat old centre.
After breakfast we start our trekking tour from Cavtat, we follow the path above cliffs, through forest, vineyards and fields of Konavle. On our way we visit many interesting spots and pass through many old villages, from Cilipi to the last village on our walk, Radovcici.
On arrival in Radovcici we have lunch, and the remainder of the afternoon is free. This evening we stay overnight in Radovcici with a local family. Dinner is served at the family home.
Today we walk a maximum of 15 kilometers, 6 hours moderate walking.
After breakfast we leave village Radovcici and we continue to the region of the Konavle hills. We leave our minibus in the village of Kuna where we start our trekking tour to the highest peak in the Dubrovnik region, Mount Snjeznica (1234 m).
Trekking duration is 5 hours. After a picnic lunch in the mountains we return to Kuna from where we have a transfer to our next destination, Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is our base for next 5 days.
Today we visit and explore old town of Dubrovnik. Our Dubrovnik exploring starts after breakfast with a short walking tour from our Dubrovnik accommodation to the old centre. There we meet our guide who will take us through Dubrovnik’s streets and introduce us to its rich history. Tour length is 2 hours combining cultural sightseeing and easy walking. The remainder of the day is free.
Today we discover the Island of Sipan. Sipan is a fisherman’s island dating from ancient times. In the Middle Ages Sipan was a summer residence of Dubrovnik’s patricians. Today, many traces, monuments, castles and churches are evidence of its history. With a combination of green Mediterranean vegetation and just a couple of cars on the island, Sipan is a perfect destination for walking.
Our tour begins after breakfast; we walk from our accommodation to port of Gruz where we board the boat to Sipan. The morning walk on the island starts at Sudjuradj. Inland we will have lunch in a local tavern and free time on your own before departure to Dubrovnik. Moderate hiking and trekking, duration, 3.5 hours.
A day of real exploration as we take a trip to Herzegovina to visit the UNESCO-protected Vjetrenica Cave close to the village of Zavala in Herzegovina.
The main characteristic of Vjetrenica is a cold wind coming from its entrance. This extensive cave system has in total over 6 kilometers of channels but the section open to tourists path is 600m. The cave is also home to many small lakes and endemic species of shellfish.
A free day allows us to explore Dubrovnik further, or visit either Cavtat or Mljet.
