Discover the wonderful Elafiti Islands and more on this superb centre-based multi-activity holiday in Croatia!
From historic Dubrovnik we head to the Elafiti Island of Lokrum - by sea kayak - for swimming and relaxation amongst its hidden bays. Next we head to Šipan for some cycling amongst the islands Mediterranean-style vineyards and olive groves. We take a walking tour of Dubrovnik Old Town. After the tour you will have the opportunity to discover the churches and museums at your leisure. Our next day will take us cycling through the picturesque Konavle countryside, cycling from village to village, past fields and vineyards.
Next famous Mljet National Park beckons us for some walking as we enjoy the amazing beauty of its numerous bays, beaches and cliffs before a last free day for a little R and R, souvenir shopping or a visit to Cavtat.
After your arrival in Dubrovnik airport you will be transferred to your accommodation.
After breakfast we take a minibus transfer to Dubrovnik Old Port where we meet our guide and gain some instruction on the basics of sea-kayaking. Before long you'll have a good understanding on how these stable craft can be steered - surprisingly easy and great fun!
We paddle along the city walls to the Island of Lokrum where we can relax and swim in its hidden bays, exploring and visiting the interior where there is a beautiful botanical garden complete with subtropical plants. Also see the 12th century Benedictine monastery and a small salt lake before we head back to Dubrovnik.
We set out from the old port by local boat to Sipan, largest of the famous Elafiti islands and which has two small settlements - Luka Sipanska and Sudjuradj, both of which are ancient and have great character.
Sipan is an island with a rich cultural heritage and is characterized by a rich Mediterranean vegetation of vineyards, olive trees and pine forests - perfect for cycling.
Our cycling tour starts at Sudjuradj and heads inland through the island. There are many possibilities to explore island by bike as there are just a few cars on the island, Sipan is island of the fisherman.
In the past Sipan was the residential place of Dubrovnik patricians. By following the road from Sudjuradj past vineyards and olive trees to the port of the Luka (the western part of the island) you will find many interesting sights including old churches, summer residential palaces, beautiful pine forest and hidden bays. On arrival in the port of Luka you can have lunch in one of the excellent small taverns. In the late afternoon you return to port of Sudjradj where the boat departs to Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik is a beautiful, historic city of lovely red-roofed buildings all surrounded by inpenetrable walls. Our walking tour takes us through the city learning about the city's history and buildings. Following the tour there is free time for you to discover the churches and museums independently.
After breakfast we leave Dubrovnik by minibus (minivan), and travel to our next destination, the Konavle countryside. Our cycle tour starts in village of Zvekovica and continues through villages, forests, fields and vineyards to the village of Ljuta. There you can stop, have lunch in local tavern by the river, visit some of the old mills and relax.
Our cycling tour continues from village Ljuta through fields, vineyards and villages to village Pridvorje where you can visit the old Franciscan monastery. Our tour ends close to the village of Pridvorje, at the same place where we started our tour.
Total distance covered will be around 25 km. Late afternoon back transfer to Dubrovnik.
Our day starts with a bus transfer to the port of Dubrovnik, from where we will take a boat to Polace on Mljet. Called "the green island" because of its lush vegetation Mljet is a pearl in the Adriatic and one of eight Croatian National Parks. As with Sipan there is beautiful Mediterranean vegetation, clear blue seas, numerous bays, beaches and cliffs... but also two lovely salt lakes - warm even early in the year.
Our trekking begins on arrival at the village of Polace behind ancient remains of a Roman palace dating from the 2nd century and continues through the National Park and around the salt lakes. The walk averages around 3 hours and there is the chance to swim and enjoy lunch in a local tavernbefore returning at the end of the day by boat to Dubrovnik.
A second free day to enjoy places not yet seen. Perhaps you'd like to take a day trip to one of the other islands or simply relax with som souvenir shopping - the choice is yours.
