Dalyan Multi-Activity Week (8 days)

Today we arrive in the delightful village of Dalyan. Located in the heart of ancient Caria the setting is sublime, by a river overlooked by floodlit ancient tombs. We settle in and look forward to a week of adventure.

Early in the morning we leave the village of Dalyan by boat for the beautiful and historical ruins of Caunos where we can wander the ancient remains of this important Carian city. From Caunos we follow the road to the unspoilt village of Candir and take a small forest path up into the mountains.

We walk over the beautiful hills to Ekincik, through a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty; the scenery is stunning and there are many opportunities to observe the local wildlife. Looking down from one of the peaks we see the small Ekincik Bay. We descend to the deserted beach where a boat is waiting with a delicious and well-deserved lunch.

Before we return by boat to Dalyan we have some time for relaxing and swimming. The cruise back takes around an hour and a half, to the Delta of Dalyan and then upriver to the village, arriving back late afternoon.

Today we get out into the hills to explore by jeep. From Dalyan we travel past forests of frankincense trees before climbing Boğa Daği mountain, a 2000m high peak, to the high, plateau village of Ağla. On our way we’ll have the opportunity to see much view the flora and fauna of the region as well as visiting a beautiful lake where we have lunch.

Wildflowers are plentiful in the springtime and the cool mountain air of Ağla provides a respite from the summer heat of the coast. Tonight is spent under canvas high on the mountainside under a canopy of wonderfully bright stars as we enjoy a camp fire and a superb BBQ.

Akkoprü is the small village from where we start this exciting day of adrenaline-fuelled fun. Located in the wilds of Turkey on the Dalaman River Akkoprü provides the put-in point for the very best white water rafting in western Turkey.

The river flows all year round, being at its most challenging in the spring time, and consists of rapids followed by pools, rapid, then pool and so on; the rapids being grades 3 and 4 – great for beginners and yet exciting enough for old hands. The pools allow plenty of time to relax, swim and enjoy the scenery.

At the end of the day we enjoy the film of today's actions while having late lunch after which we will have a short ride to our camp spot along the river.

We start with some instruction from our guide before setting off, first utilising old roads through small Turkish villages. The action starts!

Climbing uphill and coasting down again we cross small rivers getting splashed with water and mud before arriving at our lunch spot. Here we can swim in the cool, clear water and enjoy a great meal sitting above the river before setting off on the last leg of the journey back to Dalyan. En route we make a stop at the famous Günlük Forest where we smell the famous liquid-amber trees.

Today has mostly been left free to relax. We can enjoy the market, have a sail on the river or relax by the pool. At the end of the day we have a treat in store with a traditional Turkish Bath. We guarantee you’ll never feel as clean, refreshed and relaxed as when you emerge!

A steaming hot sauna relaxes the muscles and loosens the skin before a traditional scrub get you sparkling clean. This process has a soothing effect leaving you feel clean like never before. For a final treat and highly recommended finish you bath with an authentic soap massage - the ultimate relaxation experience. After your bath cool down as you relax with a glass of Turkish tea before dressing and returning to Dalyan.

A last day of adrenaline-fuelled adventure! From Dalyan an hour’s jeep ride takes us to a unique canyon that few know about. Canyoning involves wading through the stream of the river and its pools scrambling as we go and occasionally using ropes. Protection is afforded by helmets, with wetsuits at colder times of the year; all groups are accompanied by experienced guides.

This is the very best way to explore this rugged and beautiful terrain as we swim under waterfalls, through rock pools and climb over boulders. Next we use climbing gear to scale shear waterfalls and huge boulders which block our path and at the end of the day as we return to Dalyan we do so elated with a great sense of achievement.
