This tour has a relaxed pace as we explore the culture and history of south Dalmatia, historically known as the Dubrovnik Republic. Independent its territory covered an area from eastern Konavle and Cavtat to the Elafiti Islands to the Peljesac Peninsula.
Today’s Dubrovnik old town is well known, but there are many interesting, cultural attractive small places outside of the city too. Day by day and in combination with a variety of activities we discover Dubrovnik’s past and present.
In the old town we visit one of the oldest European pharmacies, the Rector’s Palace and famous city walls, then head to the countryside to take a look at country life. A boat trip to the island of Sipan and an afternoon’s sightseeing is on the menu before we head to Mljet, an island and national park, where we enjoy walks through pine forest and around salt lakes.
After a transfer to the accommodation you’ll meet with your leader and enjoy a welcome dinner and a run through the trip itinerary together.
Today we head from our base in Mlini to Dubrovnik and start with a cultural tour of this beautiful old city. We’ll take in the Rector’s Palace, Franciscan monastery and one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe.
After time for lunch we set off around the city walls and fortifications, before finally taking the boat back to Mlini where there should be time to enjoy the hotel pool.
After breakfast we take a minibus transfer to Konavle village, where we visit an old mill, ethno-collection and have an ancient craft demonstration. After lunch we travel to Cavtat where we visit the historical centre of this medieval town and its museums before transferring back to Mlini.
Today our trip continues with a journey to the Elafiti island of Sipan. First we head to Dubrovnik Gruz harbour and a boat to Sipan. After a two hour crossing we arrive on Sipan in the little village of Luka Sipanska and check into our comfortable 4* hotel.
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the surroundings of the wonderful Elafiti Islands.
After breakfast we meet with our guide as we start to explore Sipan. We take in the summer Gothic-style residences owned by the Sorkocevic and Skocibuha families and a church-fort dating from the 16th century.
After lunch we take boat to neighbouring Lopud and spend an afternoon sightseeing through the beautiful parks and gardens, medieval churches and summer residences of this island.
Later we return to Sipan.
With a free morning to enjoy Sipan a little more you could spend time walking through old fisherman’s villages or on the beach. Whilst your luggage is stored in the hotel.
Later taking the ferry to Mljet you arrive in the port of either Polace or Sobra and are transferred by minibus to your hotel.
Part of Mljet has been designated as a national park and it is amongst the most attractive islands in Croatia. We start our Mljet trip with some easy walking to the national park, among old villages, pine forest and vineyards. On arrival there is chance to swim and for a boat trip to St. Mary’s island, home to a 12th century Benedictine monastery.
After lunch we take a boat transfer to the coast, walking along national park trails before departing back to the hotel.
After breakfast and according to your flight time we organise a transfer from Mljet to Dubrovnik airport.
