On arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel where the remainder of you day is at leisure.

Today we drive to Nevşehir in the heart of Cappadocia. We start our time in amazing landscape with a full-day cultural tour of the main sites giving a background to the land through which we’ll be exploring.

We’ll see the Devrent Valley, famous for its uniquely-shaped ‘fairy-chimney’ rock formations and Paşabag – the Monks’ Valley - to see the most interesting mushroom-shaped pinnacles as well as the town of potters, Avanos.

After lunch we continue our explorations with a visit to the Open Air Museum at Göreme where the remains of centuries-old rock-cut churches and Christian settlements can be seen. Lastly, before returning to our hotel we will visit the pinnacle-castle at Uçhisar.

Departing from our hotel after breakfast we drive to Derinkuyu, a vast underground city created by early Byzantine Christians to protect themselves from attack.

From Derinkuyu we continue to the beautiful Ihlara Valley to explore the famous rock-cut churches as we hike 4km through the valley. At the end of the day we visit the monasteries in Selime village and a 13th-century caravanserai built by the Selçuk Turks on the Silk Road.

Continuing south we enter the Taurus Mountains en route to our campsite at Sokullupinar, deep in the Aladağlar Mountains.

An early morning reveals the true beauty of the Aladağlar Mountains. The range runs from the southwest to the northeast for approximately 50 km and is between 25km and 30km wide.

The highest peak, Demirkazik, reaches 3756m at its summit, with other notables including Kizilkaya, 3725m and Mount Vayvay in the east at 3565m.

Our trek destination is the Yedigöller ‘Seven Lakes’ Plateau. Before we get down to our campsite, we will attempt to summit Mount Emler, 3723 m, before descending to our camp at 3000m.

Those that wish to brave the waters can swim in the lakes and if minded can take a day out to rest and admire the stunning scenery or explore around camp. For those interested a number of different walking options present themselves - there are several 3500m+ summits around to trek to. Both the Mediterranean and Anatolian weather systems influence the climate of the Aladağlar bringing warm summers and cold winters to the mountains.

Today we continue our Trans-Taurus trek as we descend to the Soğuk Pınar plateau through the Hacer pass. Our walk will take around two and a half hours. There are interesting rock formations and several waterfalls to discover; the erosion of limestone has created a fascinating karstic topography, especially here as we descend from the Yedigöller Plateau where underground rivers and caverns collect the surface water.

Today we trek to the massive Barazama and Kapuzbaşi waterfalls, examples of the work of water on limestone. Here we rest and take something to eat before finally descending to meet our transport for the drive back to Ankara.
