This thrilling weekend includes flights from London.  Fly out Thursday night and arrive back on Tuesday morning, having had two days of diving with Great White Sharks.

This exhilarating and unforgettable experience of sharing the water with these incredible animals, is also available to non-divers; either from the boat, as sharks frequently swim at the surface offering great views, or from cages, following a one day PADI Discover Scuba course. Upon arrival day in Cape Town you will have a one hour introduction to the theory of diving, watch a video and then discuss the most important aspects of the equipment safety. A pool dive enables you to become familiar with the equipment, then it is off to a suitable dive site around the peninsula, where you will be able to enjoying the marine life and the sensation of being underwater.

Two mighty oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian, meet at the Cape and the resultant differences in sea temperature promotes a huge diversity of marine-life. Just minutes outside the city of Cape Town, you will be 'flying' through forests of kelp, rising twelve metres to the surface and providing a protective mantle for many species of fish, and exploring abundant reef walls and caves - home to species such as corals, sea anemones, sponges, seafans and nudibranches. Late winter sees the whale migration, including Southern Right Whales and Brydes Whales. Most days you will also see dolphins, seals and penguins. The Cape Peninsula is also known as the 'Cape of Storms' and the local wreck dive sites offer a diversity of wrecks, from very old to quite modern, from challenging deep wrecks to less technical shallow wrecks.

With an excellent chance of seeing Great White Sharks, you are in for the dive of a lifetime.  

Peak Great White Shark viewing is May through August. Whale watching June through November, daily departures are possible.

Boulders Beach
Rather than stay in Cape Town between dives, spend a night at Boulders Beach Lodge, just footsteps from the beach and home to the only mainland colony of African Penguins. Accommodation is in twelve tastefully decorated, en-suite bedrooms with corner baths in each room. Enjoy the ambience and the small restaurant before taking a stroll to see the penguins.

Gansbaai and Dyer Island
Gansbaai is the world capital of the Great White Shark, and Dyer Island presents the best place in the world to discover, observe and dive with these elusive and wonderful animals. From June through December, Gansbaai is also home to the Southern Right Whale when the coastline becomes the breeding area for these giants of the oceans. Gansbaai is also located at the Heart of the Fynbos Biome, the smallest, and richest, Floral Kingdom in the world. Stay a night or two at one of a selection of excellent B&Bs.

Protea Banks or Aliwal Shoal
Combine the thrill of Great White Shark cage diving in Cape Town with the adventure of diving with Ragged-tooth sharks at Aliwal. Hungry for more sharks? Head to Protea and the opportunity of seeing even more of these fascinating animals.

Operator Remarks

Dive packs usually include tanks and weights only. Hire of other equipment will be charged locally unless a full equipment pack was purchased at time of booking. Please note that diving computers are not usually available for hire. Wetsuits are recommended even in tropical waters, to reduce the waters cooling effect and protect the skin. Many centres only have a limited range of equipment; you are advised to take your own equipment where possible.
