Departure by jeep from your hotel at around 08:30 you initially drive northwest about 21/2 hours to reach Arada Canyon, also called the Double Canyon. Arada has been described as “One of the Wonders of the Natural World” is certainly one of the most dramatic canyons in South Sinai. Located in Wadi Arada, 2 minutes off the road, you reach the point where you leave the jeep and start a 1 hour trek through the gorge, starting with an ascent to enter from where the chimney (approximately 2m wide) descends diagonally.

You’ll make your way down with the aid of your guide. Continue the length of the canyon valley and meet the vehicles again to then cross into Wadi Safra, a large sandstone valley that has taken its name from its natural water source and the ‘Valley of the Wing’. From here you’ll head towards Mt Matamir where your lunch will be freshly prepared and cooked on the open fire, Bedouin-style.

After lunch and depending on the weather we climb one of the peaks of Mt Matamir to enjoy beautiful views of the desert. Next your 4WD will drive you the 40 minutes to El Barqa. You’ll make a stop at the famous rock formation “The Frozen Dinosaur” located in this stunning area. Your camp is near the highest sand-dune in Sinai, Hadouddah.

After breakfast, your jeep takes you to the Hummidatt Canyon, also called the Narrow Canyon, a very secret and amazingly pristine place where you will trek along a winding path for some 45 minutes, admiring the impressive results of erosion on the sandstone as you go. Lunch is taken in the shade of the rocky hills of Hummidatt, where you have some time to rest until returning to your jeep and driving off-road to the entrance of the White Canyon. Next you’ll descend into the White Canyon a splendid example of eroded sandstone with its floor awash with powdery white sand. The canyon’s narrow, winding path opens up to plateaus of desert and then narrows again until the exit at the oasis of Ein Hudra. Trekking through the soft sand of the canyon takes about 2 hours.

Ein Hudra is surrounded by a range of sandstone mountains and has a soft sand floor shaded by date palms. The local Bedouin of the area have cultivated the land using a natural water source and are growing a range of plants, fruits and herbs and grazing goats, as they have for hundreds of years. The oasis of Ein Hudra gives an insight into the desert-dwelling Bedouin way of life and their daily rituals. You’ll spend the night with your hosts from the oasis in the traditional atmosphere of legendary Bedouin hospitality

This morning you’ll enjoy breakfast beneath the palm trees, and then you’ll be ready to start your last trekking day in the heart of the beautiful mountains of Sinai. A stop to admire the impressive Mushroom Rock on your way to the Coloured Canyon then we arrive in one of the most famous sites in the region area. Bearing the traces of fossilized corals and marine vegetation dating from the time when the desert was submerged beneath the ocean the canyon reveals amazing layers of colours on its walls.

After 2 hours trekking you’ll head towards Nuweiba to celebrate a brilliant safari with a special Bedouin lunch served at the Castle Beach Eco-Lodge. The afternoon is the perfect opportunity to relax and snorkel along the coral reef as far as the the rock of the Devil’s Head, before heading back to Dahab by 5:30 pm.
