The Bayuda Desert is the desert area within the loop of the Nile when the river seems to flow back southwards. This territory is mainly stony, with various volcanic ancient black eruption cone-shaped formations that are in the central area and it has large stretches with white quartz stones.

This territory, so various and undulating, forms many depressions where camelthorn acacia trees groves, grasses and often green bushes grow and these are a good pasture lands for the animals of the nomadic groups living here. The most important group is the Bisharin tribe, that lives in small familiar clans in tents or huts built with branches.
