On the opposite side of the island to the capital San Felipe, Mosteiros is Fogo’s second ‘town’.
The small population live from agriculture, mainly carried out in the bottom and on the slopes of three craters, known as the ‘Covas’, a short distance out of town. The Mosteiros region is one of the most fertile on Fogo and is highly regarded for the taste and aroma of its coffee.
