Leaving early as the sun starts to rise you’ll head to the Taj Ganj area of Agra, home of the Taj Mahal. You’ll enter the Taj grounds as the mist starts to rise, the sun turning the white marble a rainbow of colours. Your guide will go on to explain the stories associated with the building. Wander the gardens and soak up the atmosphere, find a quiet spot to contemplate the history of the building and explore the on-site museum.

Next you’ll head to the heart of Agra and Agra Fort. As with the Taj Mahal the fort overlooks the River Yamuna and a wander through its palaces, halls and gardens reveals just what a masterpiece of engineering it is. Afterwards make your way through the bustling Kinari Bazaar to the city’s main mosque, the 17th century Jama Masjid.

Later you’ll cross the Yamuna to see the mausoleum of Itmad ud Daula. Here the fine inlay work that can be seen on the Taj Mahal was first used and the result is, simply, stunning. All in all a great day exploring this amazing city.
