Introduction

I live in Wicklow, known as The Garden of Ireland, for the amount of unspoiled upland/mountain that is in it. The amount of walking possibilities there are unequaled.
I am middle aged, work in constructionand have a wide range of interests and hobbies. A lot of these are related to travel and places to visit. The most prominent of these are: history, archaeology, nature (animals, birds, trees, mountains etc), walking and camping, culture as in music, art and writing.
As I have always loved to see new places, travel is a hobby with me. My organising skills make it easy for me to arrange any type of trip to anywhere. I especially like to arrange group trips.

Areas of Interest

My main focus is to bring people to see places that are off the tourist track, like trekking into the mountains anywhere that my travels take me. Spain is a favourite destination as there are so many mountain tracks to walk there. I go there frequently and have taken many groups. It is so different to the mountains in Ireland.

Countries I've Visited

Andorra • Cyprus • Denmark • England • France • Germany • Gibraltar • Italy • Netherlands • Northern Ireland • Portugal • Republic of Ireland • San Marino • ScotlandSpainUnited Kingdom • Wales • EgyptCanada • United States • Sweden

Future plans!

Posted on:
Sunday, 16th March 2008

Hi Colin,
I do have plans to visit South America but not for another year or two. A group from our walking club "The Roving Soles" plan to go to Bolivia to climb the highest peaks. I will be on the support team, with responsibility for logistics and food. Australia could be some time away but I have a great interest in Aboriginal culture and do intend to follow that up!

Hi lowflier,
Where are the 'Roving Soles' based? Good luck with the Bolivia climb and keep an eye on the site if you are into Aboriginal culture as we have a company called Bookabee joining the site soon, who are experts in Aboriginal history and cultural tours. Keep in touch, Colin

Hi Colin,
The Roving Soles are based in the Dublin/Wicklow area in Ireland. We do most of our outings in the Wicklow mountains, every Saturday all year round and Tuesday evenings from April to September.
Thanks for the tip on the Aboriginals, I look forward to its addition.
I am going to add some more information to my profile.

Hi lowflier. Sounds like the Roving Soles keep themselves active! If you get a chance, it would be really great to read about one of your recent walks on our blog section, as we are always interested in hearing about new walks. Keep in touch, Colin.

Hi Colin,
Yes I would love to write some articles for your blog. I could do something on my walks in Spain also if you want? I have walked in a lot of the countries I have visited so have much to tell but not all at once! Let me know what way you want me to write about it? Thanks for asking me!
Laurence.

Blogs

Hi Laurence,
That's really great and looking forward to reading some of your blogs. If you click on 'my profile' and then 'manage blogs' you will then be able to add your stories plus a few images. Nothing too detailed, but an overview of where you walked, how long it took, some of the lasting memories - that type of thing. You can see one of my blogs that I posted yesterday, which was fairly short, but kind of painted the picture. Have a good Easter weekend and chat soon, Colin.

Hi Colin,
Hope you had a good Easter yourself!
Thanks for the invitation to write about my walks. I have read some of your blogs and that gives me an idea of what to write. I do have quite a few experiences to write about.
I have tried to Email on your quest for experts but it didn't go through to you.
I am in the process of setting up a commercial walking business in Andalucia to utilise my knowledge of that area. This will be a mix of walking, history, archaeology etc. If this expertise is of use to you on the site I would be happy to participate.
Sorry for the delay in replying, my Email was acting up!
Talk soon.
Laurence.

Hi Laurence. How are you doing? You can send me a PM/mail on here if you would like to chat further about your Andalucia - sounds exciting. Cheers, Colin
