I live in United Kingdom, just wondering how much it would be for a holiday to Thailand (including flights etc) Is it a very expensive place to go?

Hi PinkAmethyst

Personally I find Thailand one of the more expensive Asian countries these days although it is still good value and a great destination. It has quite a wide range of hotels and activities available covering most budgets. You first call would be flights - expect to pay anywhere from £400 to £600 for these. Once you are there you could take an organised tour - there are a number of tours to thailand on this site which seem to be around the £600 per person. They are priced in dollars so you would benefit from the dollar being so weak to the pound at the moment.

Alternatively you could take the independent route and just book accommodation and maybe some transfers - hard to comment on cost - I have been to thailand a few times and paid from £5 per night for a beach hut in Ko Samui to £100+ per night for a 5* room in Bangkok.

What were you looking to do while you are there? The organised trips are going to include all sorts of activities that come at a price so if you are just looking to enjoy beach life on the islands then the cost will be lower. If you are comfortable using backpacker hotels, public transport and eating local food (which is fanstactic) you can get by in Thailand for around £20-25 per day.

As an aside if money is a big factor maybe think about Vietnam which is a stunning destination with lovely people and is incredibly cheap.

I agree with vividearth --- there's not much to do in Thailand (well, save for the sites) that you could do in Vietnam.
