I'm off to Paris one week on wednesday for 3 nights with my boyfriend, but am having trouble finding anywhere cheap and nice to stay. Does anyone have any recommendations or know of any good websites? We're looking not to spend more than €75 per night per room if poss, and I know it's asking a lot but ideally want to be near le Marais...don't mind good hostels with private rooms...

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi Mel

A friend of mine has told me about an excellent website called Bed and Breakfast in Paris, which may well come up with the goods.

Click here for the Bed and Breakfast in Paris website.

While you are there, make sure you jump on the 'Vélib', or ‘Freedom Bikes’. This is a groundbreaking scheme where you can pick up a bike from one of the many stands around the city (there are loads), ride it to wherever you fancy going and drop it back at another stand. Amazingly, it is free for the first half hour - you just pay for any time after that. It's a great way to see this amazing city, and highly addictive.

You can find out more at the Vélib scheme website.

Any other ideas, anyone?

Enjoy Paris!

Stuart

Here’s my tip for the best cycling route in Paris on the velib.

Pick up a bike on top of the hills at Belleville or Montmartre and freewheel down the cobbled streets to the Seine.

Then find a handy drop-off point to leave the bike and head off for a glass of wine.

Just make sure you choose a bike with good brakes!!

Mel, where did you end up staying? Am going to Paris for Halloween weekend and am looking for places to stay. Anyone know of anything specific happening that time of year in Paris itself?
