So, here's a question - how is the credit crunch affecting you and your travel plans? Are you still planning to travel? Are you changing how you'll travel, or maybe you are changing where you'll be travelling, amybe to somewhere cheaper. My bet is Berliegirlie's still going off and away as usual but what about everybody else?

Carl!! OK, yes you're right!! Leaving on our first ever group trip with Explore this weekend, a chillout trip for once, to the Maldives and then Cambodia over New Year. My philosophy is I want to experience and see as much of the world as I can whilst I still can! I think air travel is going to get really expensive in the future and it may well end up being just for the very wealthy like it was in it's infancy. So I'm prepared to use what resources I have NOW before it gets to that stage, and I realise I'm very likely to attract disapproval from environmentalists by saying that, but that's a different discussion. I came across a phrase in the "Gap Year Diaries" which sums me up - SKI'er - Spending the Kid's Inheritance. My travel wish list is huge but it's more about time than cash, although that IS an issue, I don't have a private income, so that must mean it's about priorities. It's also about finding space to think outside the 'normal routine' box... so we're thinking about a longer term move to Australia/New Zealand so we can explore that part of the world without it costing a huge amount of cash (working at the same time). So I agree with Carl, I would love to hear other peoples views, plans and ideas in these interesting times!

I decided to just take out a very basic travel insurancer that really just covers for Medical Expenses and Personal Liability. I'm prepared to risk my baggage etc. Hell, it's not worth that much anyway!!! Think

Yep, I know what you mean Oscar. The rucksack I have is worth more than what's in it! If I ever go to Thailand I go with loads of old clothes and then before coming home I buy new stuff in Khao San Road. One way of beating the crunch.

A friend of mine was headed to Morocco to buy stuff to part furnish a house. They reckoned that the cost of the holiday was paid for in savings made on the shopping.

Where are you off to next?
