Can anyone recommend a budget hotel in Guayaquil that is neat and clean and in a reasonably safe neighbourhood. We are heading there in January.

Have you had a look at Hostal Quil, which is is in Guayaquil?

It is well priced, clean and comfortable, and located a short distance from both the airport and the centre.
