Hi everyone - I'm visiting Marrakesh on business in November, and would really like to stay in a small, traditional Riad if possible... Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi mrzen, we stayed for 4 nights in August 2007 at Riad al Faras. It's a small beautiful riad, wooden carved and painted doors, roof terrace, a four poster bed and a small plunge pool in the courtyard which was heaven after the madness which is Marrakech! Breakfast is Moroccan, and staff are very friendly and helpful. It's a short walk from Djemaa el Fna, although it's through a maze of alleyways as most of them are!! The riad arranged the airport transfers for us and we were met from the taxi and our suitcases transported for us. They have their own website but we booked through Hostelworld.com (see the excellent reviews). Make sure you eat in the square in the evenings with the locals at least once, the food is great and inexpensive, steamed snails and Pastilla being my favourites! If you get a break in your schedule see if you can visit Imlil and take a guided walk into the mountains/villages and see a complete contrast to Marrakech, the riad can arrange this for you, as can some of the operators on this site I believe. Have a great trip!!!

Hey,
I stayed in Riad Dar Mimouna in September 2007 and booked through expedia. Its relatively cheap, clean and the staff were very helpful. They arranged our transfers to the airport on the way home and if we'd have called ahead, they'd have done the same on arrival. The only downside is that its siuated down an alley way but, as 2 young females, we never felt threatened. Breakfast is served on the terrace on the roof and its within walking distance to the main sites.
Any more info, please let me know, and have a wonderful stay!
