Nakhl and the Hajars

Travel along the coast road west of Muscat to Barka before heading inland to visit one of Oman's many forts, hot springs, and drive through a wadi. We'll visit Nakhal fort which is perched on a rocky outcrop of the Western Hajar Mountains and the famous springs as well as Wadi Abiyad for some "wadi-bashing". A highlight will be some time spent with local fishermen on a boat trip. A great all round look at this intriguing part of Oman.

Depart from hotel at 8am. Visit Nakhal fort which is perched on a rocky outcrop of the Western Hajar Mountains. The old village of Nakhal leads to the famous hot springs situated at the end of an attractive oasis. Relax beside the shallow waters of the springs surrounded by lush green date plantations and steep mountain peaks.

The tour will then proceed to Wadi Abiyad for some "wadi-bashing" on the dry riverbed that runs through the mountains and brings you to pools of water and lush greenery. Later in the afternoon you will spend time with local fishermen on a boat trip. Transfer back to hotel around 6pm.

What to Bring	A camera is essential – however you need to ask permission before taking pictures of local people. Sun protection: high factor sun cream/sun block, a wide brimmed hat, sunglasses. Comfortable walking shoes.
