With Jerash and Gadara (modern Umm Qais) Philadelphia – today’s Amman - was one of the members of the powerful Decapolis League, a league of 10 cities that drew together for trade and mutual protection. Settlements in the Amman are however much older dating back to prehistoric times. This city sightseeing tour is designed to introduce the fascinating history of the city whose modern, 70-year old buildings belie its antiquity.
Accompanied by a local guide and with all transport and entry fees included you’ll visit amongst other sights the Citadel where the city’s Roman past is evident along with an Ommayed-era palace, Byzantine basilica and the city’s classical theatre.
