2 days In The Pink City
from GBP 43 per person
Two days will allow a memory filled exploration of the Pink City of Jaipur and its surroundings. You’ll start with a walking tour of the Pink City’s streets to get your bearings and follow that with a visit to the Palace of the Winds or Hawa Mahal whose elegant pink façade is punctuated by numerous elegantly carved windows. A climb up behind the Hawa Mahal to see the view over the street below as the harem women once did is followed by a look at the strange collection of astronomical instruments that are the Jantar Mantar.
Nearby you’ll enter the City Palace to see a fabulous collection of Rajput memorabilia and the enormous water jars famously used to take Ganges water from India to London for the Maharaja’s visit. You’ll end this packed first day with a trip out to Sanganer, a village famous for its wood-block printing.
Next day you’ll head north to the elegant cenotaphs of Jaipur’s nobility and then carry on to Amber where you’ll have the opportunity to wander the palace at leisure, enjoying its views. Descend to visit the temples in Amber village before travelling to the outskirts of Jaipur to climb up to Galta, known as the Sun or Monkey Temple and from where there are splendid views. After two-filled days you’ll return to your hotel with many memories.
