Activity Suggestion: Quito & the Centre of the World

A full day excursion introducing the highlights of Colonial Quito, before visiting the Equator and stepping stepping across the hemisphere (MT131)

from USD 70 (£35) per person

Quito’s colonial quarter, the largest and best preserved of South America, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which lies just south of the Equator. This full-day excursion begins with a visit to downtown Quito to relish in this urban jewel and its treasures of art and architecture.

Following lunch in one of Quitos excellent restaurants, we drive to the Equatorial Monument, 25 kms to the north. This monument is said to mark the exact Middle of the World, latitude 0º, where you can stand with a foot on each hemisphere. Here we visit the Ethnographic Museum inside the monument before travelling back to Quito.
