Hippo Hill Camp is in the buffer zone of Queen Elizabeth National Park close to Katwe town.
Hippo Hill is the only mid-range tented camp in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This new camp only recently opened in September 2006. Situated on a hillside overlooking Lake Edward, just the drive is quite impressive for visitors. Guests are welcomed by wonderful views of the lake, the islands of Kitako and Kabazimu Islands, and a soothing cool breeze. Nearby is the salt lake of Katwe and the Munyanyange crater lake (often visited by flamingoes). Hippos and buffaloes are also regular visitors to the camp surrounds.
The Camp presently offers 10 comfortable tents with private toilets and hot showers. They are large walk-in safari tents with their own en-suite facilities including cold and hot water. All tents are well furnished to ensure comfort for all. The tents provide a perfect setting for relaxation. From the seclusion of your veranda, you can watch wild animals as they descend from the hill to quench their thirst and nibble the green grass.
Each tent has its own en-suite facilities including cold and hot water, beds, bedding, towels, chairs and a table.
