Muyuna Lodge is located 140 kilometers (84 miles), upriver from Iquitos-Peru, surrounded by thousands of hectares of primary and virgin rainforest on the real Amazon River. Being this far from the closest city, in Muyuna we GUARANTEE the observation of wild animals in their own habitat.

Muyuna is small and intimate lodge. We want each tourist feels the contact with nature as intimate as possible. The lodge has only 17 big bungalows, where 40 persons can sleep, in bungalows of 1 to 6 beds (as requested). Each one has a private restroom, walk-in-closet, and big and comfortable beds. The illumination is made by kerosene lamps. Each bungalow is hermetically protected by mosquito nets and counts with independent terraces with hammocks facing the river, where it is possible to watch the pink dolphins or enjoy the deafening sound of silence of the rainforest by night.

Muyuna Lodge is run by locals from San Juan village a short distance up the Yanayacu River and has strong ties with the village providing much needed financial help to the local people. The lodge and all activities are run in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.

Muyuna Lodge is characterized for giving a personalized service, where one couple of tourists can be attended by only one guide! They will have many opportunities to spot many different species of animals, like: squirrel, night, tamarin, titi and capuchin monkeys, marmosets, sloth, caimans (alligators), bats, peccary, agouti, anaconda, tree frogs, macaws, parrots, hoatzin birds, egrets, herons, kingfishers, hawks, eagles, anis, piranha, pink and grey dolphins, tarantulas, insects, etc.
