Junglemantra is an exclusive luxury wildlife resort located in the world renowned Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh - in the very heart of evocative Kipling country. Junglemantra undoubtedly has the best location in Bandhavgarh for wildlife lovers, birdwatchers and naturalists. Situated in the valley between the core forest and buffer zones of the National Park, with 25 acres of extensive private grounds, Junglemantra offers an authentic safari experience, whilst Bandhavgarh offers the best possible chance of tiger sighting, having one of the highest tiger densities in India.
The resort is owned and run by British Asian nature photographer and wildlife artist Shailin Ramji, who is joined by his wife Rhea, a TV producer. Compelled by a keen love for the area, its people and the wildlife, they relocated to India from London and moved to Bandhavgarh to set up Junglemantra.
In order to ensure that the construction of the resort did not disturb the animal corridors on the site- Shailin camped on the site to research and plan the areas on which construction should take place. The human impact on the site has been kept to a minimum and this makes Junglemantra’s lake and grounds a haven for mammals (such as tiger, leopard, bear, wolf, jackals, sambar, cheetal, barking deer, wild boar, langurs, foxes, rabbits, hare, mongoose), reptiles (such as chameleons, monitor lizards) and the over 300 species of birds found in Bandhavgarh, (such as paradise flycatcher, serpent eagle, fishing owl, 3 varieties of kingfisher, Indian roller, 4 varieties of parakeet, black Ibis, woolly necked stork etc are resident).
A checklist of birds complied by guests and staff at Junglemantra boasts over 95 species of woodland, wetland and garden varieties of birds.
In the season Shailin and Rhea are at the resort with their team to ensure personalised service of the highest standard.
A stay at Junglemantra is far more than just a holiday, its an experience to see India's nature close up safe in the knowledge that your visit is enhancing their protection by creating awareness of the tigers' importance to local people, and by provide employement for local people themselves.
