Jackalberry Lodge is situated within the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, one of the world’s premier big five game viewing areas. The majestic Drakensberg Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop for this intimate camp, offering magnificent views.
The lodge is named after the beautiful Jackalberry Tree that occurs widely in the bushveld. It is just one of the fascinating trees and shrubs that allows the bushveld to support such a wide variety of animal and insect life. The bush around the lodge teems with game. More than sixty species of wildlife can be found in the immediate vicinity, including lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, hyena and cheetah.
Morning and afternoon/evening game safaris in open Land Rovers with highly trained rangers and trackers offer the privilege of experiencing a true bushveld environment as well as the prospect of seeing Africa’s “Big Five”.
Walking and birding safaris can also be arranged as Jackalberry is a paradise for bird-watchers, where more than 280 species have been recorded.
One chalet is a family chalet with a kingsized bed and two twin beds

A swimming pool, curio shop, library, internet and satellite TV are also available.
Jackberry Lodge offers al fresco dining in the gardens, around the pool, under thatch in the open-air dining area or around the fire in the boma.
Tea, coffee, rusks, muffins and croissants are provided on the morning game drive and various savoury snacks on the evening game drive. Brunch is served after the morning game drive and a high tea is served prior to the afternoon/evening game drive. A three-course dinner is served in the evening.
2 Game drives per day included in rate plus full board.

Value Added Tax is currently at 14%. Accounts can be settled in : cash, travellers cheques, major foreign currency or by Credit Card. Visa, MasterCard, Diners and American Express are accepted.
Jackalberry gate closes at 18:00 daily. A special gate pick-up can be arrange prior to arrival should it be required.
A minimum of 3 nights accommodation is required over 20 Dec 08 - 07 Jan 09 and 04 -10 Apr 2009.

The lodge is 486 km and a 5/6 hour drive from Johannesburg. Jackalberry Lodge does not offer a transfer service. However, there are a number of preferred suppliers who regularly make the trip between or Tambo International Airport and Hoedspruit Airport. Domestic chartered flights can be taken into Thornybush Game Reserve.
