The Chobe Game Reserve draws life from the Chobe River and is surrounded by protected wildlife sanctuaries. As the region is barrier free, this allows for large numbers of big game to move freely through these protected reserves. Straddling the game rich area between Chobe and Zimbabwe’s Matetsi reserve lies the Kasane Forest Reserve. It is here in the Lesoma Valley that one will find Elephant Valley Lodge, uniquely positioned thus offering spectacular game viewing long after guests have left the national park.
Open guest areas, a secluded hide, refreshing swimming pool and 20 ‘meru styled’ tents complete the lodge which lies beneath a forest of sturdy knob thorns. It is within these tree tops that the largest colony of white back vultures occurs.
The lodge is unique for several reasons and amongst these is the fact that it is situated within a game rich reserve affording the guests wonderful sightings between our open landrover safaris into the Chobe and boat cruises along the Chobe River.
The camp perimeter is fenced to keep the elephant from moving through the camp, instead now they move around the camp boundary, along their well worn paths to and from the Chobe River. Your tent also ensures that you are able to hear the multitude of night sounds as you drift away with vivid thoughts of the experiences of your day on safari.
Transfers are available from both Livingstone and Victoria Falls and these are provided by numerous transfer companies. The transfer time is approximately 1 hour from either airport and will bring guests to either Kazungula crossing in the case of Livingstone or the Botswana - Zimbabwe border post in the case of Victoria Falls. At the Kazungula crossing (border between Zambia and Botswana) a short boat trip will ferry guests to the Botswana side where an Elephant Valley lodge game viewer will be waiting to meet guests.
