Apoka is located in Kipedo Valley National Park - Uganda’s most remote park, far away from city life.
Apoka, where 10 rooms built of wood, thatch and canvas spring from a large rocky kopje, and the décor takes its cue from rock, savannah and the natural landscape. Apoka, where you can sit in your outdoor bathtub under the stars, or lie on your private veranda soaking up the view - a landscape dotted with giraffe, elephant, buffalo, and zebra.
Where you can walk with trained guides, tracking game along a sandy dry riverbed. Apoka, where you can dive off a huge boulder into Uganda’s only rock pool…and watch the animals at their watering hole at the same time. Apoka, where the sun rises from the crest between two hills, and sets behind a dramatic range of craggy mountains, bathing the entire valley in a golden light. Where you sleep in your great big bed, in Egyptian cotton sheets, listening to lions roar, knowing that your are as far away from city life as you are ever going to get.
10 expansive rooms with natural canvas walls surround a rocky kopje with endless views across the savannah. With inside sitting rooms and private verandas there are plenty of places to relax, read and write letters. Big hand-hewn beds with soft duvets are draped with mosquito nets, hand-woven woolen carpets, extra large plush towels, oversized dressing gowns…you may be as far away from the city as you’ll ever be, but you won’t miss a thing.
Each room has its own ensuite bathroom with double sink and large tropical shower. Water is heated by solar power and there is plenty of it. Step outside to a sheltered terrace and slip into your own outdoor stone bathtub, big enough to fit the whole family. All rooms have electric lights, power points.
Apoka has been built with comfort in mind. Everything is handmade by local craftsmen, everything is large and capacious.
The hotel has its own outdoor pool, also included are game drives; guided walks; birdwatching; spotlit night drives and visits to the local Karamajong community.
Dinner is served at a long hardwood table where everyone has the chance to sit together and talk about the day’s adventures. Excellent local cuisine and drinks included.
The majority of the staff are Karimajong and come from the local community.
Full board, including drinks, game drives, walking safaris and local airstrip transfers and ranger guide fees
Please note that due to the design of the lodge (rocks, cliffs, open galleried walkways) and the prevalent wildlife, Apoka is not suitable for young children. While we are happy to provide activities suitable for children, we ask that parents be responsible for their own children.

Amazing Lodges
Entebbe
Apoka is in the heart of Kidepo Valley National Park, tucked into the North-Eastern corner of Uganda where it meets Sudan and Kenya. By road it is at least 9 hours drive from Kampala. Most guests fly to Apoka, either using the lodge’s private plane, or by chartering a private plane..or through the thrice-weekly scheduled service of the local scheduled airline Eagle Air. There is an airstrip very near the lodge and we run complimentary transfers to and from this strip.
