Buses
If time isn't the most important factor then travelling by bus or coach is the best and more affordable way to travel around Britain. Britain's coach services are privatised and run by several different companies. Many of these companies offer special tours to popular historical destinations around the UK. Public buses outside London are run by a number of private companies. They're a great way to get around cities and towns, and run regularly.
Taxis
For over 300 years, taxis have been part of London life and both the vehicle and driver are licensed to carry passengers. Taxi fares change depending on time of the day, speed and distance. Fares and any extra charges are always displayed on the meter next to the driver. You can hail a black taxi in the street by raising your arm when the yellow 'For Hire' sign on the top of the taxi is illuminated. It's advisable to go to a main road to hail a taxi, as they tend not to run in quiet areas.
Car Hire
Hiring a car is a great way to travel around Britain at your own pace. You can use one for your whole visit, or for a short part of it. Driving
If you want to drive in Britain, you must have a valid, full driving license or driving permit. Parking in Britain can be very complicated.
